Greetings from Vitaly Saveliev, General Director of PJSC "Aeroflot – Russian Airlines"
Welcome aboard this Aeroflot aircraft.
Summer is here and with it the long-awaited holiday season. Thank you for choosing to travel with us. Aeroflot offers an extensive route network, with convenient connections through its hub at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, and high quality service on board. These and other reasons are why passengers around the world rate us so highly.
This spring, users of TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site with more than 455 million visitors every month, named Aeroflot Europe’s leading airline — just one of the four categories that we won at the annual TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards, in addition to Travelers’ Choice Award Premium Economy — Europe, Best Business Class in Europe, and Best Airline in Russia.
Even in today’s uncertain political climate, passengers from around the world continue to vote for Aeroflot. And the international expert community agrees with them. For the second year in a row, Brand Finance, the international authority on brand value, has confirmed that Aeroflot’s is the strongest brand of any airline worldwide. The rating is based on a number of factors, including corporate reputation, client loyalty, employee satisfaction, and investments made in marketing.
Aeroflot’s leadership of this global rating is the result of our sound strategy and many years of hard work.
Flying with Aeroflot offers convenient routes to both West and East, and indeed we are the #1 airline on one of the most competitive markets in global aviation — transit between Europe and Asia. This was recently confirmed by the Flyer Awards in China, which named Aeroflot China’s Favourite International Airline.
China, with its enormous population and rapidly expanding economy, is a priority market for us. Aeroflot offers direct flights from Moscow to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Guangzhou. Our website is available in Chinese. And on board, Chinese passengers receive our menu in their native language, while our in-flight entertainment system has added content developed specially for Chinese travellers.
Innovation helps us stay on top of our game and at the top of global ratings. For the second year straight Aeroflot has placed fourth in a ranking of the world’s most digitalised airlines. Every second passenger regularly uses our online services.
People have been quick to appreciate the convenience of our website and mobile apps, our ever-expanding choice of digital services, and the Internet On Board programme that we are currently rolling out. WiFi is already available on all of Aeroflot’s long-haul flights, and is currently being introduced across our medium-haul fleet.
This year, Russia hosts the great football event. In response to high levels of demand for tickets to host cities, Aeroflot has increased flight frequencies to St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Sochi, Samara, Kazan, Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad and Rostov-on-Don during the tournament. We have also launched service between Moscow and Saransk.
We are continuing to work hard to perfect our product offering, further raise the quality of our service, and to do everything to ensure that travelling with Aeroflot leaves you with only positive impressions.

In the June issue of Aeroflot magazine we will tell our readers about the most interesting sporting and cultural events of the upcoming month, as well as new books and films. Violin player Liana Gourdjia reveals the shenanigans that she likes no less than classical music; choreographer Boris Eifman explains why he changes his famous shows and lets his team perform at basketball matches, and former goalkeeper of Russia’s national football team, Ruslan Nigmatullin, evaluates our team’s chances at the World Cup.
Materials in the Travel section will help you catch your wave in Portugal, pick the most efficient route around Slovenia, and get inspired to explore Crimea on a bicycle. Readers who’ve long dreamed of trying abalone clams, learning to tell time by cat’s pupils, and penetrating ninja secrets will enjoy our report from Mie Prefecture, Japan. Romantic souls will like an introduction to Tallinn, while football fans planning to visit Moscow this summer will benefit from uncommon ideas of city walks suggested by famous locals.
Thirty kinds of oysters, sea urchin shots, and ramen noodles that are boiled for sixteen hours: Moscow is going through another fit of Japanese cuisine fever, and this time authenticity is key. In our report, see the list of the capital’s restaurants whose ingredients and ideas come directly from the Land of the Rising Sun.
A hotel room is special territory — this thought inspired several contemporary writers to write the short stories that make up the book entitled “33 Hotels, or Hello, Beautiful Life!”. In our Reading section this month, we present two of these short stories: a literally blood-chilling tale of Valery Panyushkin’s adventures in the Swiss Alps, and an account of how Sasha Philipenko attained zen in rural Russia.

When the sun is shining so brightly, our thoughts can only be of one thing — the beach!
June’s issue of Aeroflot STYLE is devoted to the long-awaited opening of the bathing season. The mood is “slow living”: at last we can allow ourselves to relax and remember simple earthly pleasures.
To begin with, we have to choose the right bathing costume (this season’s hot trends are 80s-style deep necklines, high waists, bright prints). Then we need the right accessories — for instance, sunglasses (this summer the preference is for narrow models with a sci-fi feel). Lastly, don’t forget jewellery (especially popular right now are coloured enamel, turquoise, and pieces in the form of marine fauna).
Don’t forget to pack sun creams, decorative cosmetics for striking evening make up, and light fragrances. For more precise recommendations, see our Beauty section.
This issue’s special themes include the results of the “New names in the world of fashion” competition held by Sobaka.ru magazine for young designers.
Our principal personalities are Sandra Bullock (see her new film Ocean’s 8 in June), Shailene Woodley (star of Big Little Lies), and Lázaro Rosa-Violán (the Spanish interior designer).
To catch the sun, this time we fly to Saint-Raphaël, Greece, the Maldives, Montenegro, and San Francisco.
