The Department of Transportation of the Russian Federation has rewarded the staff of “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” Open Joint Stock Company with the honorary diploma “For the complete professionalism, showed during the evacuation of the Russian Federation citizens from the armed conflict zone in the Near East”.
The diploma was presented to the Director General of “Aeroflot” company Valery Okulov by the Minister of the Department of Transportation of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin.
This award signifies the public recognition of the airline’s activity in the sphere of the social responsibility. Aeroflot has repeatedly responded to the requests for help of the Russian citizens, who have come upon trouble. To evacuate the Russian citizens from Lebanon Aeroflot has urgently organized a special flight, has modified its fleet and schedule taking into consideration the needs and has accepted the citizens for transportation without tickets. 371 passengers including 29 children have been carried from the Syrian city Latakia by charter flight SU 4237/SU 4238. Besides, the refugees have been transported by the Aeroflot regular flights from Larnaky and Damascus.
In 2004 and 2006 Aeroflot urgently organized several flights to transport the Russian pilgrims from the Saudi Arabia to Homeland, who could not return by ground transport due to the bird flue epidemic. In 2003 Aeroflot responded to the request of Kaliningrad inhabitants and organized unscheduled flights at a reduced fare owing to the introduction of visa requirements for transit through Lithuania. Two weeks ago Aeroflot urgently initiated a regular flight to Magadan, where a complicated situation with transportations occurred as a result of closing of the local carrier’s business.
The diploma of the Department of Transportation signifies the services of the company’s staff which willingly responds to the requests for help.
