December 15, 2014, Moscow. — Today was held the third and closing for this year working session of Aeroflot Public Council. The Council was chaired by Tatiana Tarasova, a world-renowned figure skating coach, Honored Coach of the USSR.
This working session was dedicated to the results of Aeroflot in 2014. A report on this subject was made by Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev.
Among the major Aeroflot milestones 2014 were mentioned:
- Launch of low-cost carrier Dobloret — a part of Aeroflot Group. After its grounding due to the anti-Russian EU sanctions — a new company Pobeda appeared;
- Aeroflot’s major contribution to the triumphant hosting of the XXII Olympic Winter Games 2014 and XI Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi;
- Aeroflot’s de facto recognition as the Best Airline in Europe for the quality of service according to the prestigious international rankings.
In total Aeroflot won more than 30 national and international awards 2014 and got high positions in industry rankings. Aeroflot was awarded by Skytrax World Airline Awards as the Best Airline In Eastern Europe for the second year in a row.
The main challenges for Aeroflot in the upcoming year are: unfavorable economic conditions because of the sharp rise in foreign exchange rates, as well as complicated geopolitical situation due to the crisis in Ukraine.
Aeroflot’s corporate social responsibility and its innovative approach to strengthening relations with the society were noted as well. Aeroflot CEO stressed the important role of the Public Council in this area and expressed hope for further efficient operation of this consultative body which is formed by prominent representatives of culture, education, health, sport, media and business communities.
