May 4, 2010, Moscow. –As part of preparations for the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Aeroflot has held a contest for the best paper focused on the topic ‘Air Workers of the War’ written by a student or postgraduate of a Russian aviation, aviation engineering or humanities university. The contest aim was to involve young people in research into previously unknown fact of the life and work of civil aviation pilots in the Great Patriotic War, war history of transport and medical aviation divisions and units, whose backbone was formed by ex civil aviation pilots.
The contest panel consisting of Aeroflot’s public and government relations department, activists of the company’s Council of Veterans, and renowned researchers from Moscow universities have studied the applicants’ works and awarded the first prize to the paper ‘Olga Lisikova: The Star of the Battlefield Sky’ written by Olga Serebryakova, a first-year student of Social Communications Management Department, MSTUCA. The prize – a certificate for a free economy-class flight Moscow – Rome – Moscow (roundtrip) was handed to the winner at the traditional meeting of Aeroflot’s management with war vets who had worked for the company. The meeting took place at the Novotel hotel on the threshold of the 65th Victory anniversary.
Other prize-winners were: Anastasia Sechkina, second-year student of the Far EasternState Transport University, air transport department; Irina Berdysheva, third-year student of Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation, mechanic department; Yevgeny Korolyov, postgraduate of St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation.
