September 22, Moscow – OJSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” became a rightholder of the two new trademarks. Intellectual Property Federal Service granted patents and trademarks certificates for the renewed company’s logotype with a stylized smile and tricolor Russian flag as well as for the trademark “Sincerely Yours”. Aeroflot has the exclusive right for this trademark. Thus, visual symbols of the Aeroflot brand are reflected in legal documents.
The certificates were also granted to the Aeroflot subsidiary airline “Aeroflot-Nord” both in English and in Russian.
According to the Deputy Managing Director and Aeroflot legal department head, Boris Eliseev, the legal processing of the given trademarks would be continued. “In the future the company is to undergo necessary and long-term legal procedures to confirm these trademarks in European Union and the United States”, Eliseev stressed.
At present all the trademarks, belonging to Aeroflot, are properly protected both by the international and national law. Last year there were no registered cases of company’s logotype and name illegal use.
Some time ago Aeroflot succeeded in termination of cigarettes “Tu-134” production, which package had Aeroflot trademark. Using judicial means the airline obliged several tourist companies to change their names, which used Aeroflot title. Currently, Aeroflot as a licensor has agreements on commercial operation of international airlines, using the company’s name.
OJSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” was granted awards at several international competitions “Brand of the year/EFFIE” in the category “Transportation service”. Recognition of the Aeroflot efforts in the field of marketing communications by the professional community is a result of company’s work on re-branding.
According to the Managing Director of OJSC “Aeroflot-Russian Airlines” Valeriy Okulov, Aeroflot’s Russian trademark is the most recognizable in the world and is 73 years old. Aeroflot brand is essential component of the company’s capitalization and future deposit for success on the global market.
