February 7, 2011, Moscow. From 7 to 18 February 2011 ‘Aeroflot - Russian Airlines’, the Association of Chess Federations, and the Russian Chess Federation will conduct the anniversary tenth chess tournament ‘Aeroflot Open-2011’.
Aeroflot being a supporter of the chess tournament as a national sport, is the general carrier of tournament participants and provides resources for the prize fund. In 2011, the prize fund is 160,000 Euros.
Three open tournaments (A, B, and C) will be conducted for participants with different ratings. The A group, where extra class chess players will compete, is most interesting. The contest is conducted on the basis of the Swiss system and involves nine rounds.
The opening ceremony of the tournament will be held at 9 p.m. on February 7, 2011. On the last day of the tournament, February 17, winners will be awarded and players will be selected for the world blitz chess championship of 2011.

Aeroflot was the first Russian carrier to be included in the IOSA operator registry and it continues to confirm the certificate in a regular way. The airline has successfully passed the Safety audit for ground operations (ISAGO). Aeroflot is a holder of the unified certificate of compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
