Aeroflot is among thirty world’s largest airlines measured by available seat kilometers for a week, according to Innovata, a global leader in travel related content management.

Aeroflot took the second place in the Annual study of the quality of on-board culinary offerings in the long-haul dining category made by Skyscanner.ru, a popular travel search site. Over 550 European travelers and bloggers performed as food critics, analyzing on-board menus of leading European air carriers. As a result of 2012 Scyscanner European Airline Food Awards, Aeroflot was ranked second in the long-haul dining category and fifth in the short-haul one, being the only Russian company in European Top-5 for both flight categories.

In honor of its 90th anniversary Aeroflot declared about the start of the new art competition “Paint Aeroflot airplane”


The Board considered viable creation of two joint ventures – for aircraft maintenance and repair operations and components maintenance and repair operations. State Corporation “Rostec” and SR Technics – the leading independent MRO provider on the global market with main production capacities in Europe, were chosen as preferred partners for Aeroflot in creation of the joint venture.

Already a traditional chess tournament «Aeroflot OPEN — 2013» dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the leading Russian airline company will take place in Moscow starting from February 11 till February 18, 2013.


Travel.ru information portal, one of the most popular Internet tourist resources in Russia, presented its annual «Travel.ru Star» Awards. Aeroflot was named The Best Airline both on CIS and North America destinations.

The Jury of Aeroflot Open International Innovation Contest announced the winners. Teams of professional developers and university students with their concepts of «In-flight Entertainment Platform» from all over the world participated in the contest organized by Aeroflot in partnership with the Federal Business Incubators Network «Open Innovation Inc».

The Board of Directors approved the transaction between JSC “Aeroflot” and JSC “VEB-Leasing” on finance lease of 10 new regional Sukhoi SuperJet-100 aircraft, manufactured according to JSC “Aeroflot” requirements (full specification). These aircraft are to replace 10 Sukhoi SuperJet-100s delivered earlier in basic configuration (light specification). The forthcoming replacement is aimed at higher effectiveness and degree of comfort of JSC “Aeroflot” aircraft fleet, which is of prime importance taking into account high-priority attention which the Company devotes to the qualitative rise of passenger service level. 

Aeroflot opened its Hub Control Center in Sheremetyevo International Airport, Moscow (SVO). This object is unique for Russia’s Civil Aviation and has the primary goal to coordinate transfer connection processes and oversee the flight control at the airport. 

According to Flightglobal Pro studies published in Airline Business Journal, Aeroflot is in Top-5 air companies operating in Europe with the largest passenger traffic in 2012. Last year the passenger turnover of the leading Russian air carrier amounted to 50.53 billion pkm, showing the impressive growth of 20.3%, compared to 2011.

PJSC «Aeroflot — Russian Airlines» transferred 52,156 % block of shares in «Vladivistok Air» (member of Aeroflot Group of companies) to JSC «SAT Airlines» (100% subsidiary of Aeroflot). This was made following the decision of Aeroflot Board of Directors about the creation of united Far Eastern Airline (DVA) within Aeroflot Group. The new member in Aeroflot Group of companies will satisfy the growing demand for regional flights offering the highest service standards in one of the most impressively developing regions of the country — Russia’s Far East.

Aeroflot puts into operation the full flight simulator (FFS) for Sukhoi Superjet 100. Aeroflot FFS SSJ-100 was jointly developed by L3 (formerly Thales Training & Simulation) and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC). This latest generation «Reality 7» FFS allows a real time training for SSJ 100 pilots during all stages of flight in normal conditions and in emergency situations. The simulator is equipped with a modern electro-hydraulic movement system, visualization system with LCOS-projection devices and an instructor workstation with improved ergonomics.

On 31 March 2013 JSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” will start its summer schedule valid till 26 October 2013. At summer season 2013 Aeroflot is planning to fly to 52 countries, including 6 CIS countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kirgizstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan). The route network of Aeroflot comprises 122 destinations (75 outside Russia) including 49 points in Europe, 12 in Asia, 8 in the USA, 6 in the Middle East and Africa.

In honor of its 90th anniversary Aeroflot set in operation a Sukhoi Superjet 100 with jubilee livery. The «B. Borisov» aircraft rejoined the airline’s fleet painted in traditional Russian khokhloma style. Also Aeroflot fleet joint the plain in retro livery.


According to «2012 Deliveries: Top Five Airlines by value and region» study published in Airline Business Journal, Aeroflot is number 4 in Europe among air companies with the largest aircraft deliveries in 2012.

Aeroflot Group member-companies were announced the winners in main nominations at the Russian National Civil Aviation Award Ceremony «Wings of Russia» celebrated on 08.04.2012 at «Renaissance Moscow Monarch Center» hotel. PJSC «Aeroflot — Russian Airlines» was triumphant in the most prestigious nominations: «Airline of the Year — Domestic Passenger Carrier, Group I (passenger volume over 3 bln pkm)» and «Airline of the Year — International Scheduled Passenger Carrier». Moreover, following the results of air passengers’ internet survey 2012, Aeroflot took the special prize — «Russian Airline of the Year — People’s Choice».

JSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” is in the List of Global 2000 Leading Companies. Two thousand biggest public companies from 63 countries are shown in one of the most prestigious business ratings annually published by Forbes since 2004.


The only air plane in retro livery in Russia has joined the Aeroflot fleet celebrating the 90-th Anniversary of the national flag carrier.

Aeroflot has successfully passed the fifth regular IOSA procedure (IATA Operational Safety Audit). The IOSA certificate and the status of IOSA-registered operator have been prolonged till October 14, 2015.

JSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” completed sale of CJSC “Aerofirst” stake to CJSC “ARIAL”. Sold equity stake amounts to 200 ordinary registered uncertificated shares, which total 66.66% of CJSC “Aerofirst” issued shares.

Aeroflot took delivery of the first Sukhoi Superjet 100 in full specification made by JSC «Sukhoi Civil Aircraft» (SCAC). The aircraft is named after Valery Sysovsky, Honored Russian Transport Industry Functionary, and a flight engineer who was a member of the crew that operated the first ILYSHIN-96 passenger flight SU315 from Moscow to New York.

Aeroflot got the international prize SKYTRAX World Airline Awards as the Best Airline in Eastern Europe. The ceremony took place at the 50th Le Bourget air show. The prize was established by the British consulting agency Skytrax renowned for its highly professional audit of service quality and has great authority in the global air industry.

Aeroflot was declared the most eco-friendly Russian airline with minimal emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The company ranks first among the «greenest» national air carriers, according to the rating of tourist search engine Aviasales.ru. The survey shows that Aeroflot has the smallest atmospheric trace of all Russian airlines — 66.57 g of CO2 per passenger-kilometer.

Aeroflot accommodated joint plenary meeting of State Duma Committee on Economical Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship and State Duma Committee on Transport. Apart from two dedicated committees, heads of Russian transport sector were also present. The session was dedicated to the discussion of acute problems that national air transportation market faces nowadays. Among other things Aeroflot specialists presented a comprehensive program aiming to lower the costs of air service.

Aeroflot was announced as Official Partner and Official Airline of the Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade.  

Aeroflot, Russia’s leading airline, became the ‘Official Carrier of Manchester United Football Club’. The announcement was made at an exclusive launch at Old Trafford attended by Vitaly Saveliev, CEO of Aeroflot, Richard Arnold, Group Managing Director of Manchester United, David Moyes, Manchester United Manager, and members of the Manchester United squad.

JSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” summed up traffic and capacity statistics for June and 6 months of 2013. In June 2013 passenger traffic increased by 19.8% against the same period in 2012 and totaled 1,922.9 ths passengers. International passenger traffic rose by 12.4% (+122.2 ths passengers) reaching 1,106.9 ths passengers. The number of passengers served on domestic lines was 816.0 ths which is 31.5% more (+195.4 ths passengers) compared to the result of June 2012.


For the first time in Russian aviation history, Aeroflot Group is among top 5 airline holdings in Europe and top 25 world airlines by revenue according to the rating of Airline Business, one of the most influential magazines in the industry.

Aeroflot has set a new traffic record in July — during this period the airline transported 2.104 million passengers which is 17% more against July 2012.


Aeroflot launched a new program «A Heart with two wings» that will provide assistance to children with serious and rare illnesses living in remote areas of our country and requiring hi-tech medical care which cannot usually be provided in their home region.

Aeroflot reduces by 20% all economy fares for the flights from Moscow to the cities of Russian Far East: Blagoveshchensk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The discount will apply to the tickets on sale from September 18 and untill the end of 2013.


Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM ) has summarized the results of its survey on criteria by which Russians choose an employer and the companies that best meet them. Aeroflot took the third place in the list of state-owned companies whose main activity is the provision of services to the population. The airline has strengthened its position in the ranking of the best employers in Russia compared to the results of a similar poll in 2012 — up from the eighth to the third place.

Aeroflot Group now includes a budget airline named Dobrolet. Originally, it was the name of the joint-stock company established in 1923, a predecessor of today’s Aeroflot. Dobrolet will be based in the Moscow region. The fleet of the new airline will consist of Boeing- 737-800NG’s in one class configuration. It is assumed that the low-cost carrier will start operating in spring of 2014. At the initial stage the airline will fly to the most popular destinations in the European part of Russia.

On October 27, 2013 PJSC «Aeroflot — Russian Airlines» introduced its winter schedule valid till 29 March 2014.

Aeroflot co-organized charity initiative within the social project “Child Question” – “Train of Hope” for the eighth time. Its purpose is to help children left without parental care to find a new family.


Aeroflot presented a new Aeroflot Group member – the consolidated Far Eastern airline "Aurora”. JSC “Aurora Airlines” was established by the order of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation on the basis of two Far Eastern air carriers – SAT Airlines and Vladivostok Avia (both in Aeroflot group since 2011). The main objective of a newly created airline is to contribute to Russia’s Far East social and economic development through the system of more efficient and accessible passenger traffic.

Aeroflot’s modular data center (DC) received a prestigious IT award CNews as «High-Tech DC of the Year». CNews AWARDS distinguishes key milestones on the Russian market of information and communication technologies (ICT); the best Russian and international developments in the field of ICT which significantly contributed to the development of new technology industries in Russia, as well as the merits of individual professionals in the field.

 Aeroflot was announced the winner of the XVI Annual Report Competition in the category «Best Annual Report in the Consumer Sector of the Economy».

Annual Report for the year 2012 issued by Aeroflot was recognized as the best in the transport industry of XVI annual federal competition of annual reports and websites organized by «Securities Market » magazine and social network INVESTOR.RU.

Aeroflot took the first place in the annual nomination «The Quietest Airline» run by Vaclav Havel Airport (Prague).

Starting from December 24, Aeroflot’s transit passengers departing from Rome, Milan, Venice, Los Angeles, Washington, Miami and Toronto to cities of the Russian Federation have the possibility of seamless baggage check-in to the final destination in Russia without any need to receive their luggage in Sheremetyevo airport. The service is only available for the baggage with no items subject to a written customs declaration.

Modernization and expansion of the aircraft fleet

Aeroflot expands fleet with 24 new aircrafts, including eight Airbus А320, four SSJ-100, five Airbus А321, three Boeing 737-800 and four Boeing 777-300.
