Greetings from Vitaly Saveliev, General Director of PJSC "Aeroflot – Russian Airlines"

General Director of PJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines Vitaly Saveliev

Dear Passenger,

Welcome aboard this Aeroflot aircraft.

The long-awaited summer holidays are here — a time for exciting travel and joyful gatherings. Our route map can help you plan your next trip, and in July it will add new destinations. Lovers of Italy will welcome direct flights from Moscow to Verona and Naples. Both cities are UNESCO World Heritage Centres, rich in history and architecture with notable landmarks and outstanding art museums and galleries. And the summer opera festival, held again this year at the ancient Arena di Verona amphitheatre, is considered one of the premier events in the global musical calendar.

TAmong Aeroflot’s new destinations is the Bulgarian city of Burgas. This part of the wonderful Black Sea coast has long attracted Russian tourists, who love to visit this friendly and hospitable city. Additionally, we continue to strengthen ties with our neighbour to the south in Central Asia, Kazakhstan. Kyzylorda became the ninth Kazakhstan city to which Aeroflot flies directly. In the Summer Schedule we have also increased flight frequencies to existing locations in Kazakhstan: we now operate 12 flights from Moscow to Astana per week (up from nine) and seven per week from Moscow to Aktobe (up from four).

Growing transit traffic between Europe and Asia remains a key strategic priority for Aeroflot. The best confirmation that our efforts are working in this area was being recognised as China’s Favourite International Airline for the second year in a row. This landmark achievement strengthens our position not only in the world’s most populous country, but also globally.

Aeroflot ranks among the top five European airlines and top 20 global airlines by passenger traffic. Aeroflot’s leading position is further confirmed by prestigious international awards. Brand Finance, a UK consultancy, named Aeroflot the world’s strongest airline brand for the second year in a row, while TripAdvisor users have recognised Aeroflot one of Europe’s leading airlines, also for a second year. Aeroflot maintains 4-Star Airline status from Skytrax and is rated a Five Star Global Airline by US airline association APEX.

The most enticing summer image is the road running off into the distance. The July issue of Aeroflot STYLE is dedicated to the road movie with its traveller’s romanticism and retro aesthetic. We look at: camping hotels with trailers instead of dull hotel rooms; museums of retro automobiles; outfits for the road from the latest collections; and the best designers en route.

In our Fashion section we discuss clothes that adapt to the special qualities of the female body, survey lingerie-style outfits (one of this season’s main trends), and advise on how to wear silk shawls.

In Jewellery section we select pendants on long chains and look at watches created for the World Football Championship.

Turn to our Beauty section for beauty products containing no added water, melt-proof make up for the hot summer, products based on strawberries, and a hit parade of moisturizers, cleansers, and hair-styling products.

Our principal personalities this month are actresses Léa Seydoux and Vanessa Kirby, designer Sofia Sanchez de Betak, and cult perfumer Michel Almairac.

Be sure not to miss our Reading Matters section, where this month we publish excerpts from “When the Cathedrals were White”, Le Corbusier’s reflections on a journey to New York. Impressive stuff.
