Aeroflot, Jsc Signed A New Collective Agreement

Aeroflot, JSC signed a new Collective Agreement for years 2006 – 2008, a major document regulating social and employment relations in the company.

Boris Yeliseev, Deputy general director and Director of legal department, signed the agreement on behalf of the company, and the company employees were represented by Boris Shastun, Chairman of Aeroflot Trade Union Committee, comprising over 9 000 members (60% of the carrier’s employees).

The new Collective Agreement preserves the employee benefit package guaranteed by the previous document, the employer willing to maintain its responsibility for the employees’ wellbeing despite the unfavourable economic environment in the industry caused by soaring fuel prices.

The principal parameters of social partnership ensured by the Agreement include employment guarantee, medical care and insurance, recreation opportunities for employees and their families, consumer services and catering, labour safety and injury compensation.

The current instrument regulating employment relations in civil aviation is the industry pricing agreement for years 2004 – 2006, signed by representatives of five major Russian aviation trade unions and the International association of Russian aviation enterprises directors. Nominally, Aeroflot did not participate in the agreement as “the benefits and preferences part was too strict”, said Yeliseev. “If we had joined the move, the benefits of our employees would have been substantially cut down on, some of them cancelled completely,” he added.
