Baggage Carriage Rules for Transit Passengers

When departing from airports in the Russian Federation to destinations in Former Soviet Union countries (FSU countries) and non-FSU countries, you may check in for your Aeroflot flight and check your baggage through to your final destination all at the same time, provided you are not transporting goods in your baggage for which a written declaration must be made. For more detailed information on the list of goods requiring a written declaration and approved by Article 8 of the Agreement dated July 18, 2010 “On the procedure for transporting goods by individuals for personal use through the customs border of the Customs Union and performing customs operations connected with their release,” please visit the following websites:

Documents available in the GARANT system

Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 637 dated 10 July 2014 "On the simplified procedure for performing customs operations"

Thus, when you buy tickets using a single form and travel abroad through Sheremetyevo Airport, you do not need to undergo an additional check-in procedure for your connecting flight, neither do you need to reclaim your baggage and hand it over for re-registration. Baggage is accepted for carriage, undergoes customs clearance and is delivered to the aircraft without passenger involvement, provided that it does not contain goods that are subject to a written customs declaration.
In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 637 dated 10 July 2014 "On the simplified procedure for performing customs operations in respect of goods accepted by airline carriers for accompanied baggage carriage,” on flights operated by Aeroflot PJSC – Russian Airlines departing from any of the following locations in FSU countries and non-FSU countries, it is possible to check your baggage through to your final destination in the Russian Federation (provided your baggage does not contain goods that are subject to a written customs declaration):

Europe: Alicante, Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Belgrade, Berlin, Budapest, Bucharest, Bologna, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Hanover, Helsinki, Heraklion, Larnaca, Lisbon, London, Lyon, Madrid, Malaga, Milan, Munich, Naples, Nice, Oslo, Paris, Prague, Riga, Rome, Sofia, Split, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Tallinn, Tenerife, Thessaloniki, Tivat, Valencia, Venice, Verona, Vienna, Vilnius, Warsaw, Zagreb, Zurich.

Asia/Middle East: Antalya, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, Tokyo.

USA: Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Washington DC.

FSU Countries: Astana, Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau, Bishkek, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Minsk, Shymkent, Yerevan [1].

In all other cases you should reclaim your baggage at Sheremetyevo Airport and go through customs control (regardless of whether your baggage is checked through to your final destination or only to Moscow). You will then need to register your baggage at the check-in desk.
Please find out the latest rules regarding baggage checked through to its final destination at the airport of departure. If your baggage has been checked through to your final destination, do not forget to show your baggage tags when checking in for your connecting flight.

Important! Even if your baggage has been checked through to your final destination, you are not exempted from liability for goods that are subject to a customs declaration or restricted for import/export. Fulfilment of requirements stipulated by the Provision "On the simplified customs procedures in respect of goods accepted by airline carriers for carriage as accompanied baggage” in no way exempts transfer passengers from responsibility for compliance with other requirements of the legislation of the Eurasian Customs Union (EACU) and the customs legislation of the Russian Federation.
Important! The airline does not arrange transportation of passengers and baggage between the airports of the Moscow aviation hub.
