Greetings from Vitaly Saveliev, General Director of PJSC "Aeroflot – Russian Airlines"

General Director of PJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines Vitaly Saveliev

Dear Passenger,

Welcome aboard this Aeroflot aircraft.

On 25 March our airline switched over to the summer flight schedule. Aeroflot is proud to offer you the opportunity to travel to 146 destinations within Russia as well as to 51 countries around the world.

One of the key changes to our flight timetable this season is that we are relaunching service to Egypt, and from 11 April we will offer scheduled flights between Moscow and Cairo. New destinations are appearing on the route map for Russia and the CIS too, with flights to Saransk and Kyzylorda.

We are expanding opportunities for passengers to spend their holiday on the Black Sea. Now Aeroflot offers you the chance not only to unwind in Sochi or Crimea, but beginning in July we will launch daily service to Burgas, a top Bulgarian resort destination.

We have also taken into account the popularity of tourist travel to Italy, and are launching new destinations to the country. Catch Aeroflot’s daily flight to Naples to enjoy the Tyrrhenian Sea, plan excursions to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii, or spend unforgettable evenings in the world’s oldest opera house, Teatro di San Carlo.

Poppies glow crimson, bells tinkle, cornflowers gleam blue as the summer sky, and delicate daisies open up towards the sun on the cover of the new spring issue of Aeroflot’s in-flight magazine. The Zhostovo bouquet is enormous, luxuriant, festive, and does not resemble a real Russian garden, but it conveys the full imaginative powers of the craftsman behind it. The flowers on the famous Zhostovo trays are not real, but treasures of the Garden of Eden, which shine like jewels and live for eternity. This issue’s main feature is about the amazing story of Zhostovo folk art.

This spring, Aeroflot also offers readers the chance to discover Russia’s most stunning beaches, travel to places full of adventure, like Kamchatka, Lake Baikal, and the Putorana Plateau, sample Russian grain dishes, and learn about the most unusual souvenirs, which one may bring home from Russia.

In the April issue of Aeroflot magazine we will tell our readers about the most interesting sporting and cultural events of the upcoming month, as well as new books and films. Actor Danila Kozlovsky reveals how his habit of watching football coaches acting on the sidelines helped him make his debut as a director, while choreographer Olga Vasilieva explains why dancing is easier when you live by the sea.

The Travel section will give you a reason to visit the wildest parts of Poland’s backcountry, uncover what kind of surprises tourists can expect in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and where to find the finest azulejos in Porto, Portugal. Moreover, in the run-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, we keep on featuring the Russian cities that are getting ready to host matches and receive fans. This time, we present our mini-guides to the monumental Volgograd, space-age Samara, and the cozy Saransk.

Lard-flavored coconut meat, burrata with pieces of freeze-dried tomatoes, shchi made of pickled grape leaves with linden tree buds — these are all actual dishes you can taste in Russia’s capital. Care to learn more about the skills of Moscow’s chefs? Our review will point you towards the establishments that serve the most impressive tasting sets.

Our Reading section features an excerpt from “A Compromise between Life and Death. Sergei Dovlatov in Tallinn and Other Encounters” by Jelena Skulskaja. It reveals the busy weekdays and the great holidays of a newspaper's editorial team, the atmosphere of which is so familiar to all the fans of this great Russian author.

Aeroflot Premium

The philosopher Immanuel Kant said: “Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing admiration and awe, the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me”. These words are wonderfully in tune with the themes we cover in April’s issue of Aeroflot Premium: perception, the power of personality, and the star-spangled sky. As usual, in this issue we bring you a selection of the month’s most interesting and eagerly anticipated events, hotel news, restaurant openings, reviews of the latest technology and gadgets, important books, and the best watches and fashion.

Special features in this issue include: reviews of two of Switzerland’s most important showrooms — one for cars in Geneva and another for watches in Basel; our Travel feature on the thriving, undiscovered parts of Sicily; our Best of the Best feature on famous fortresses and castles which have been turned into hotels; and “Lights from Heaven”, a set of unique photographs taken at night by astrophotographer Yuri Zvezdny. In the spirit of April Fools’ Day, our feature “Guests from Outer Space” lists the top ten best places to meet aliens.

Foreign readers of Aeroflot Premium may enjoy a range of features and opinion pieces in English.

Aeroflot Style

Aeroflot Style cover

“In the young month of April” we naturally want to prove to ourselves and the entire world that winter has not broken us and we’re now ready for fundamental renewal. In this issue of Aeroflot STYLE we call for change and decisive action. The heights of fashion are occupied by street trends such as demonstrative rock, funсtional denim, provocative punk, and bright lacquered leather. Our analytical piece asks why denim has endured so well as a fabric for more than 100 years.

Our Beauty section investigates yellow as this season’s principal colour and looks at new perfumes, how to take good care of your face (for which there’s no better time than spring), and the most effective health programmes offered by thermal resorts in Europe.

This issue’s main personalities include the strong and beautiful Rooney Mara, Renata Litvinova, and still very young (but no less promising for that) Millie Bobby Brown.

In this April’s issue we are again ready to delight our readers with a separate section devoted to children. This time we look at the most interesting children’s museums in the world, the most beautiful family resorts, and, of course, the latest clothes for young trendsetters.
