The CO2 emissions online calculator has been developed in accordance with best practices used in the aviation industry and in line with existing International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) methodologies.
The calculator is employed to determine the quantity of carbon dioxide emissions generated during a specific passenger flight operated by Aeroflot. For the calculation of CO2 emissions per passenger, the following flight-specific data are utilised:
- The number of available seats in each travel class (Economy, Comfort, and Business) aboard the aircraft
- The actual number of transported passengers, cargo, and mail
- Fuel consumption and route distance (in kilometres)
The CO2 emissions per passenger are calculated using the following formula:
, where
– total fuel consumption for transporting the aircraft's total commercial payload
– ratio coefficient of passenger weight to total commercial payload weight
– total number of seats on the aircraft (without class differentiation)
– statistical seat occupancy coefficient for the specific route
For Business class flights, the calculated CO2 emission volume is multiplied by an adjustment factor of 2, as the weight of auxiliary equipment and permitted baggage allowance for this travel class exceeds that of other travel classes.
