Aeroflot contributes to the fight against climate change through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, decreased consumption of fuel and energy resources (FER), and improved fuel efficiency.
Aeroflot offers passengers the opportunity to participate in a voluntary carbon offset programme, compensating for the carbon footprint generated by their flight – as calculated by the online CO2 emissions calculator – by planting trees through our partners Trillion LLC and Save the Forest LLC.
Flying range:
--- km
CO2 emissions per passenger:
---.-- kg
CO2 emissions per selected number of passengers:
---.-- kg
With relevant statistical and actual data, the online CO2 calculator calculates the environmental impact of each passenger's air transportation.
The approach to calculating environmental impact is based on the well-known fact that 1 tonne of aviation kerosene, when burned in an aircraft engine, emits 3.16 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), which enhances the greenhouse effect and contributes measurably to global climate change.
Note that select routes may be stated as being operated by two aircraft of the same type with different carbon footprints.
This is due to the fact that some flights are operated by airliners equipped with aerodynamic Sharklet wing tips, which reduce fuel consumption by 4% (according to Airbus).
