The main item on the agenda was Aeroflot Group’s financial results for 2018, one of the most challenging years for global civil aviation. Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev told the Council how the Group managed to mitigate negative impacts from macroeconomic factors and deliver positive net income. He also reported on the Company’s key development goals for 2019.

“Last year was one of the most challenging years for global civil aviation, yet it marked a significant milestone for Aeroflot Group: we have adopted an ambitious development strategy. By 2023, when Aeroflot celebrates its 100th anniversary, the Group’s passenger traffic should reach 90-100 million people. We are expecting our low-cost airline Pobeda to be the key growth driver, providing Russian citizens with accessible air transportation. In accordance with our new Strategy, we have also started developing an international hub in Krasnoyarsk, which will help us to expand the network of regional routes bypassing Moscow. As a global airline and Russia’s national carrier, we have set ourselves new goals, and I believe the Public Council will help us achieve them by advising us on customer needs and requests,” Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev said.

The Public Council of Aeroflot is a consultative and advisory body that has been operating since 2014. It helps the company maintain dialogue with society and respond to its requests. Aeroflot’s Public Council includes 24 Board members who serve free of charge and rotate on an annual basis. They include representatives of business, media, public organizations, professional associations, culture and sports.
