On June 7, 2003, Aeroflot-Russian Airlines starts direct air communication between St. Petersburg and Japan.
Nonstop flights will be made on A310 for routes:
- St. Petersburg-Tokyo (SU589/590 departure at 19.45 on Saturdays) and
- St. Petersburg-Osaka (SU549/550 departure at 19.45 on Sundays).
Earlier passengers could travel to Japan from St. Petersburg through Moscow using Sheremetyevo airport as transit junction. Customers will be offered traditionally high-quality service for first, business and economy classes.
The high level of advance reservation of nonstop plights (more than 80% seats) indicates significant demand for the new service among Aeroflot clients.
