Greetings from Vitaly Saveliev, General Director of PJSC "Aeroflot – Russian Airlines"
Welcome on board this Aeroflot aircraft.
I am pleased to announce that Aeroflot is entering the summer season with a number of prestigious awards, solidifying its status as a premium carrier, both in Russia and internationally.
Aeroflot has been named the strongest brand in Russia, ahead of the country’s largest and long-established industrial and financial firms. We received this recognition from Brand Finance, the world’s leading independent branded business valuation and strategy consultancy, which earlier this year also named Aeroflot the strongest airline brand globally. These recognitions serve as further acknowledgement that Aeroflot is the face of Russia, its most recognisable company both at home and abroad.
The distinction of strongest brand reflects a high level of brand visibility, potential for sustainable development and customer loyalty to the brand. It directly depends on your attitude towards Aeroflot and your willingness to use our airline’s services, which encourages us to always provide the best experience and ensure your flight is comfortable and enjoyable.
Aeroflot is a well-known and popular brand in the European market, which historically has been of special importance to us. We were recently named the best major airline in Europe by users of TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel planning and booking site. In addition to this accomplishment, Aeroflot received two other TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards: Best Business Class globally and Best Airline in Russia. We are particularly honoured to have received these awards because they are based on reviews and ratings from passengers — the most representative, demanding and objective jury.
We are also consistently strengthening our position on the vast and high-growth Asian markets. Aeroflot was recently recognised as China’s Favourite International Airline at the prestigious Flyer Award Ceremony 2017. Chinese consumers awarded us this accolade for providing high-quality services, affordable fares and convenient connecting flights from our Sheremetyevo airport hub. Given the strategic prospects for continued Russia — China cooperation, Aeroflot is increasingly focused on the large Chinese market. We have strategically developed a host of strategic initiatives to attract more Chinese passengers.
Another undoubted advantage is the widespread introduction of advanced technology to help us improve our service offering and take it to the next level. According to a rating compiled by Bain&Co., Aeroflot is the fourth digital airline in the world.
Tens of millions of people around the world associate Aeroflot with high-quality service, advanced digital technology, one of the youngest fleets in the world and stylish cabin crew. Today Aeroflot is an effective, dynamic and technologically advanced company with global ambitions and real potential to achieve them.
We appreciate your choice and thank all our passengers for their loyalty.
Your thoughts and opinions are very important to us. I will be glad to answer your questions by email at email@example.com.
Aeroflot – Russian Airlines
Summer is in the air and Russia is in bloom. Vibrant colours are bursting through, winter is becoming a distant memory, and the mood is changing. The front cover of this edition — daubed in the bold gold and red of Khokhloma, a traditional Russian handicraft style — perfectly typifies the vibrancy of the new season.
And when the sun starts to shine, people get itchy feet, so inside you’ll find travel features focusing on the stunning region of Tatarstan — boasting the iconic city of Kazan, and the far eastern Kuril Islands, where monumental volcanoes rise out of the sea. Thanks to Aeroflot Russian Airlines foreigners and Russians alike can journey to the remote far reaches of the largest country in the world at the drop of a hat.
But if you want to stay a little closer to capital, you can take your time exploring a special route from Moscow to Smolensk dotted with inspiring places occupied by some of the country’s best-known writers from Pushkin to Prishvin.
All this travelling around is bound to make you hungry so for some inspiration Aeroflot is celebrating the 200th anniversary of first ever cooking book dedicated to Russian cuisine. Legendary Russian high jumper Valery Brumel is also honored in this issue.
Make the most of warm weather, fly in style and comfort with Aeroflot to one of our many destinations. Enjoy the summer!

In the June issue of Aeroflot magazine we will tell our readers about the most interesting sporting and cultural events of the upcoming month, as well as new books and films. Opera singer Svetlana Kasyan will share the dangers of leaving Verdi for Wagner; actor Maxim Matveev will explain why he loves stormy weather and can’t judge his Vronsky; composer Dmitry Kurlyandsky will reveal what attracts him to misunderstanding and discomfort, and show how to be a member of total performance by humming tunes to yourself; meanwhile, children’s poet Anastasia Orlova will uncover linguistic finds from her traveling notebook.
The Travel section will let readers feel the drive of Tour de France while enjoying the colorful French province. Those who prefer quiet vacations and philosophical contemplation should check out our thoughtful report from Crete, where even buying a tablecloth turns into a soulful and picturesque action. As we continue exploring the Mediterranean, we present a photo story from Croatia, carefully preserving its rich Venetian and Roman legacy. For those who like to keep on moving we suggest 13 adventures in Sochi and a 370-kilometer long bike route in Sweden, running along the seaside through royal castles, wineries, and fields with windmills.
Sorbet in a lipstick tube, potato ice cream and sprats mousse cannoli: St. Petersburg, the city of museums and imperial ambitions, can easily surprise the most sophisticated palate. St. Pete chefs get inspired by Faberge eggs, Fellini films, and avant-garde paintings.
Continue getting to know the city on the Neva River through an essay by writer, historian, and tour guide Tatiana May, from a recent collection of stories entitled “Living in St. Pete”. Tatiana tirelessly explores backstreets and “well-courtyards,” discovering the crossroads of real and imagined St. Petersburg, while delving deep into the city folklore.

“Nature knows no bad weather,
Every kind of weather is a blessing,
Rain, or snow, any time of year,
Should be accepted graciously”
Eldar Ryazanov's lines from the film “Office Romance” are surprisingly accurate in their description of the changeability of Moscow summer. Nonetheless, in the new June issue of Aeroflot Premium, we have tried to give readers a sunny mood: summer in a northern country, Finland, in our Travel section; the Great Steppe of Kazakhstan in a photo essay timed to Expo 2017, taking place in Astana; the best Mediterranean hotels in our exclusive roundup, Best of the Best; and in the Art section there is a Russian avant-garde collection from the Savitsky State Museum of the Arts in Uzbekistan.
The hero of this issue is professor Maxim Kronhaus, a famous linguist who reflected on the fate of the Russian language to Aeroflot Premium readers. One of our key articles is dedicated to the beloved film director and true man Eldar Ryazanov, after whom Aeroflot has named its new aircraft.
There is reading material for fans of slow reading and long-haul flights: a story about the domestication of animals and an extract from Sarah Thornton's sensational book, “Seven Days in the Art World”.
Foreign readers of Aeroflot Premium will find editorial articles and columns in English.
