18 January Aeroflot-Russian Airlines operated two IL-86 services from Jordan on route Amman - Mineralnye Vody, as part of the programme for transportation of the Russian Hajj pilgrims, carrying 672 pilgrims home. The flights are operated in the normal mode. Today, the company plans to operate two more flights and carry 672 passengers. All in all, the air-carrier is planning to carry over 7,000 passengers by 20 flights operated by IL-86 aircrafts, preventing the pilgrims from traveling across Turkey hit by the upsurge of bird flu.
Flights are operated twice a day. Air services between Amman and Mineralnye Vody are operated by two Aeroflot aircrafts and four crews reinforced with extra members.
Aeroflot had similar experience in February 2004, transporting Russian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia.
