On June 5, 2006 "Aeroflot - Russian Airlines" has launched the system of on-line payments accessible from the company's www.aeroflot.ru web site. Now passenger are able not only to book, but to pay aviation tickets through the Internet using their credit cards.
Since the legal base regulating issuing of electronic tickets is still unavailable, Aeroflot' passengers yet have to pick up paper tickets in the company's sales offices. At the same time the vehicle of Aeroflot' Internet web site enables issuing of electronic tickets, and upon elimination of legal restrictions on issuing and circulation of electronic tickets in Russian Federation and upon completion of technological integration with destination airports, the passengers will be released from necessity to collect paper aviation tickets.
For further developing of Internet ticketing program Aeroflot plans to:
- launch special Internet sites intended for foreign markets capable to provide information and fully operational in ten languages, offering and operating prices expressed in world currencies;
- provide the clients with an access to accompanying services (such as booking, rent-a-car services, etc);
- develop special Internet site designed to serve corporate clients and travel agencies professionally engaged in sales of aviation transportation services.
From May 2006 Aeroflot operates the new version of Internet based booking system. This version has modern design and implements proposals made by the clients on enhancing of the web site functionality. In particular, personal data of the client are integrated in common Aeroflot Bonus program frequent flyer data base, which significantly simplifies interaction with the system and enables the client to check his booking history and to cancel previously made reservations, customize personal preferences to widen available services. In addition to that, there is a new opportunity to perform search for available seats and fares prior to the registration, on-site authorization of the client and many other features.
