Aeroflot has summed up first results of Internet ticket sales that show a steady growth of booking volume and e-sales. Sales growth reaches 5% a week and made over $2 mln. in September. Almost half of the tickets were paid on-line. The launch of on-line payment system at www.aeroflot.ru allows passengers both to book tickets and pay by credit card via Internet.
The Internet channel proved to be efficient in operation with growing flows and also facilitated production productivity.
The paid on-line tickets are registered as e-tickets at the moment of payment. Nevertheless due to absence of regulatory framework on issue of e-tickets, Aeroflot passengers have to get paper tickets in sales offices as yet. After elimination of regulatory restrictions on issue and circulation of e-tickets in Russia, and technical integration with destination airports there will be no need in paper tickets.
Developing a project of ticket sales via Internet in autumn Aeroflot is planning:
- to launch Internet service for overseas market with a possibility to read/work in ten languages and prices in major International currencies;
- to provide an access to relating services (hotel booking, car rent etc.);
- to create a special Internet site for corporate clients and later for travel agencies not dealing in air carriages professionally.
A new version of Aeroflot Internet booking has been operated since May of this year. The system has a modern design and considers clients’ proposals on enhancement of its functionality. Particularly, personal data are integrated with “AeroflotBonus”, data base on often flying passengers, that makes the system operation easier and allows a client to see its booking history and cancel reservations, create personal settings. Moreover, it is possible to search for destinations and fares prior to registration and authorization at the site and a whole range of other opportunities.
