Today Aeroflot celebrates the 90th anniversary of the first regular domestic route. The flight from Moscow to Nizhniy Novgorod performed on July 15, 1923 gave birth to the air traffic in our country.
To celebrate this date, the only Russian plane in retro-livery — A320 «Dobrolet» -will operate the flight Moscow-Nizhniy Novgorod-Moscow. A solemn meeting of the aircraft is already scheduled in one of the country’s oldest airports — Nizhniy Novgorod International Airport.
After the landing «Dobrolet» will be greeted by a traditional water salute with two firefighting trucks creating an arch of water plumes around the plane. Near the terminal the passengers and the flying crew will be met by the airport stuff to solemnly release 90 balloons in the air.
The first flight in Russia was performed on the plane named «Prombank» (German Junkers F13) by the pilot of Dobrolet Society Iakov Moiseev. The aircraft took off from Khodynskoe field had only 4 passenger and 2 air crew on board.
Today, almost a century later, Aeroflot has 4 daily flights on route Moscow-Nizhniy Novgorod-Moscow performed by A319, A320 and Sukhoi Superjet aircrafts. The flag carrier is an absolute leader on this destination in terms of transported passengers and further growth of the traffic. During the period from January to June 2013, Aeroflot’s share in total traffic has reached 26.3% (104.600 passengers). In 2012 the airline set a traffic record on the route — over 170.000 passengers with load factor over 70%.
This year Aeroflot also celebrate the 15th anniversary of resuming regular flights from Moscow to Nizhniy Novgorod canceled in early 90s. In 2011 the flights became daily.
Nizhniy Novgorod is among 19 destinations of Aeroflot’s route network where «Business Pass» is available. This an integrated round-trip ticket for several flights on chosen direction. Since January 1, 2013 the route Moscow-Nizhniy Novgorod-Moscow is also included in «Aeroflot-Shuttle» program.
