Aeroflot Bonus frequent flyer programme wins two prestigious Freddie Awards

2 May 2017, Moscow. — Aeroflot’s frequent flyer programme Aeroflot Bonus has won two awards at the prestigious Freddie Awards 2017 in the categories Best Customer Service and Best Redemption Ability.

Founded in 1988 by the editorial board of leading industry magazine, InsideFlyer, the Freddie Awards determine the best loyalty programmes in two key areas of the tourism industry — airlines and hotels. Every year more than 4.2 million people from over 230 countries take part in the voting. Objectivity is achieved not only by the wide range of participants, but also through the use of a fair vote counting system that takes the company’s size into account. Airline loyalty programmes from Air France/KLM, Lufthansa, American Airlines and Southwest have all previously won this award. The famous Freddie Awards statuette has become a symbol of world-class airline loyalty programmes that meet the requirements of modern, sophisticated passengers.

This year’s winners were identified from the results of voting in five separate categories from three regions of the world — the Americas, Europe & Africa, Middle East & Asia/Oceania. Voting was open from 15th February to 31st March 2017. The award ceremony took place on April 27 in Jersey City, NJ, USA.

Aeroflot Bonus is the largest loyalty programme in Russia and the CIS region. The programme currently has more than 6.1 million participants, who are credited with miles for flights with the Aeroflot Group or SkyTeam alliance members. Participants can also collect miles with purchases from other programme partners. Miles can be spent on tickets and upgrades, or exchanged for rewards with programme partners. The award organisers singled out two main advantages of Russia’s leading carrier’s loyalty programme: the variety of redemption possibilities and the high level of service. These advantages characterise Aeroflot’s activities in general as a client-orientated global airline, a leader in business digitalisation and the airline’s focus on new approaches to leveraging Big Data.
