On December 9 at 10:00 Moscow time, Aeroflot Russian Airlines hosted its third internet conference entitled “Improving the PJSC Aeroflot Internet Sales System: Online booking and bonus flights within the Aeroflot Bonus Programme”. The Company organized the first two conferences in 2007-2008. These events attract large audiences of over 5,000 people.

On December 2 in Moscow PJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines received its 23th A320 aircraft from Airbus. Aeroflot’s fleet currently includes 44 aircraft from the A319/320/321 family. The new aircraft is named after Miklukho-Maklai, a Russian ethnographer, anthropologist, biologist and traveller.

The aircraft was procured under an operational leasing deal made in 2007. The leasing company is Wahaflot Leasing 2 Limited.

On December 1 a scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors of PJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines was held. For the period up to 2015 the Board of Directors of PJSC Aeroflot prioritized the following:

  • Strategy to develop the route network.
  • Strategy to develop the aircraft fleet.
  • Strategy to develop PJSC Aeroflot and targets of strategic development.
  • The Board of Directors adopted the main principles of developing the route network and determined the priority markets of Russia and the CIS—mostly dynamically developing with strategic stability.

November

PJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines, a member of the SkyTeam global alliance of air carriers, is introducing a programme to upgrade its service class for frequently flyers on flights served by any SkyTeam alliance member under the Mileage Upgrade initiative.

PJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines took the decision to have all of its advertising space overseen by a single advertising agency. The following advertising areas are to be assigned and administered: onboard magazines (Aeroflot, Aeroflot Premium, Aeroflot Style), audio-video programmes, POS advertising and print media.

On 1 November PJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines and leading Russian oil companies reached an agreement on the calculation of kerosene prices. Gazprom Neft is the Russian oil companies’ main consolidator. The agreement was made as part of the government’s programme to stabilize fuel prices, which contains measures to move to longtime contracts between airlines and oil companies, and a formula for the calculation of kerosene prices.

October

Aeroflot Russian Airlines, JSC Citibank and Visa, an international payment system, have launched a new co-branded credit card in Russia. Given the booming tourism industry in Russia, the new card offers attractive benefits for frequent travellers.

As part of the winter flight schedule 2008/2009, Aeroflot Russian Airlines, China Southern, and SkyTeam alliance partners are to offer a new connection between Urumqi and Moscow under a signed codeshare agreement.

In October the airline carried 774,000 passengers (including 800 passengers on charter flights) and flew 2.344 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 72.4%, and the commercial load factor 60.4%.

Compared to 2007, all performance indicators rose in September: passenger traffic increased by 12.4% and passenger turnover increased by 11.9%. International passenger traffic rose by 8.3%, while domestic passenger traffic increased by 20.3%.

Over the first ten months of 2008, Aeroflot carried 7.913 million passengers and performed 23.136 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 71.8%, and the commercial load factor 57.0%.

As compared to 2007, over the first ten months of 2008 passenger traffic rose by 14.6% and passenger turnover rose by 10.9%.

September

In September the airline carried 864,000 passengers (including 6,800 passengers on charter flights) and performed 2.6 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 76.2%, and the commercial load factor 62.5%.

Compared to 2007, all performance indicators rose in September: passenger traffic increased by 15% and passenger turnover increased by 12.5%; international passenger traffic rose by 4.2%, while domestic passenger traffic increased by 37.1%.

Over the first nine months of 2008, Aeroflot carried 7.138 million passengers and performed 20.8 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 71.8%, and commercial the load 56.8%.

As compared 2007, over the first nine months of 2008 passenger traffic rose by 14.8% and passenger turnover rose by 10.7%.

August

In August 2008, the airline carried 962.1 thousand passengers (including 10.2 thousand passengers on its charter flights) and performed 2.825 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 79.2%, and the commercial load factor 64.1%.

Compared to 2007, August demonstrated growth in the following performance indicators: passenger traffic increased by 13.9%; passenger turnover increased by 10.2%; international passenger traffic rose by 4.1%, while domestic passenger traffic increased by 33.1%.

Over the first eight months of 2008, Aeroflot carried 6.3 million passengers and performed 18.236 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor was 71.2%, and the commercial load factor 56.4%.

As compared to 2007, over the first eight months passenger traffic rose by 14.7% and passenger turnover rose by 10.5%.

July

In July the airline carried 919,500 passengers (including 7,900 passengers on charter flights) and performed 2.7 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 77.8%, and the commercial load factor 60.9%.

Compared to 2007, July showed growth in the following performance indicators: passenger traffic increased by 8.6%, and passenger turnover increased by 6.8%; international passenger traffic rose by 1.7%, while domestic traffic increased by 21.4%.

Over the first seven months of 2008, Aeroflot carried 5.3 million passengers and performed 15.4 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 70%, and the commercial load factor 55.2%. As compared to 2007, over the seven months passenger traffic volume rose by 14.8%, while passenger turnover rose by 10.5%.

June

In June 2008, Aeroflot carried 852,900 passengers (8,700 on charter flights), and performed 2.454 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 74.7%, and the commercial load factor 60.7%.

Compared to 2007, June 2008 demonstrated growth in the following performance indicators: passenger traffic increased by 13.7%; passenger turnover increased by 11.8%; international passenger traffic increased by 5.6%, and domestic passenger traffic increased by 28.8%.

Over the first half of 2008, Aeroflot carried 4.385 million passengers and performed 12.704 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 68.5%, and the commercial load factor 54.5%.

May

In May Aeroflot carried 806,000 passengers (900 on charter flights), and performed 2.281 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 69.5%, and the commercial load factor 55.3%.

Compared to 2007, May showed growth in the following performance indicators: passenger traffic increased by 20.3% (+136,000 passengers), and passenger turnover by 15.3% (+302.4 million passenger-kilometre); International passenger traffic increased by 9% (+39,700 passengers), and domestic passenger traffic by 42.5% (+96,500 passengers).

Over the first five months of 2008, Aeroflot carried 3.532 million passengers and performed 10.250 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 67.2%, and the commercial load factor 53.3%.

As compared to 2007, the first five months of 2008 showed the following increases: passenger carriage volume rose by 16.8% (+508,000), and the passenger turnover by 11.2% (+1,030.7 million passenger-kilometres).

April

In April 2008, Aeroflot carried 732,400 passengers (300 passengers on charter flights), and flew 2.091 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor was 68.3%, and the commercial load factor 55.0%.

Compared to April 2007, the Company demonstrated growth of passenger traffic by 13.3% (+85,700 passengers), and passenger turnover by 6.7% (+131,700 million passenger-kilometres); international passenger traffic increased by 2.7.% (+11,400 passengers), and domestic passenger traffic increased by 33.1.7% (+74,300 passengers).

Over the four months 2008, Aeroflot carried 2.726 million passengers and flew 7.969 billion passenger-kilometres. Passenger load factor composed 66.6%, and the commercial load factor was 52.7%.

March

In March Aeroflot carried 723,000 passengers (1,400 on charter flights), and flew 2.127 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor was 68.8%, and the commercial load factor 54.7%.

In March passenger traffic increased by 19.7% (+119,000 passengers) and passenger turnover by 14.4% (+267.7 million passenger-kilometres); international passenger traffic increased by 10.7% (+42,000 passengers), and domestic passenger traffic by 37.7% (+76.2 million passenger-kilometres).

In the first quarter of 2008, Aeroflot carried 1.993 million passengers, and flew 5.879 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor amounted to 66.0%, and the commercial load factor 52.0%. Compared to the first quarter of 2007, passenger traffic increased by 16.8% (+286,000), and passenger turnover by 11.3% (+596.7 million passenger-kilometres).

February

In February Aeroflot carried 634,300 (including 1,300 passengers on charter flights) and flew 1.83 million passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor was 65.1%, and the commercial load factor 51.8%.

Compared to February 2007, the Company demonstrated growth in the following performance indicators: passenger traffic increased by 22.5% (+116,000 passengers), and passenger turnover by 14.9% (+237.7 million passenger-kilometres); international passenger traffic increased by 12.2% (+41,300 passengers), and domestic passenger traffic by 41.7% (+75,300 passengers).

Over the first two months of 2008, Aeroflot carried 1.268 million passengers and flew 3.75 billion passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor was 64.5%, and the commercial load factor 50.5%.

January

In January Aeroflot carried 633,000 passengers (including 7,900 passengers on charter flights) and flew 1.92 million passenger-kilometres. The passenger load factor was 63.9%, and the commercial load factor 63.9%.

Compared to January 2007, passenger traffic increased by 8.5%, and passenger turnover by 4.9%. International passenger traffic increased by 5.2% and domestic passenger traffic growth was 14.9%.
