Aeroflot - Best Taxpayer 2006

“Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” JSC op. became the national prizewinner as the “Best Taxpayer 2006”, the prize, instituted by Interregional Employer’s Association under the auspices of the Audit Chamber of the Russian Federation and Committee for budget and taxes of the Russian State Duma.

The victory signifies the financial transparency and high social responsibility of the national carrier. For many years Aeroflot has been the largest taxpayer responsible for 74% of all the taxes paid by the Russian civil aviation industry. In 2005 Aeroflot’ tax contribution to all the budget levels was 6.961 billion RUR.

The company’s profit for 2005 according to the Russian Accounting Standards amounted to 8.365 billion RUR, whereas the profit earned by the whole civil aviation industry of the Russian Federation in 2005 was 2.2 billion RUR according to the Federal Agency of Airline Service.

“Aeroflot – Russian airlines” JSC op. has its headquarters in Moscow, Russia, airport Sheremetyevo. The airline was founded in 1923. It is the largest carrier on the international and domestic lines, which accounts for 39% of international and 11% of domestic air transportation market in Russia. Aeroflot is the member of Sky Team global airline alliance, which has been acknowledged “The best airline alliance” by the readers of Global Traveler Magazine. In the year 2005 the company carried 6.8 million passengers to 89 cities of 47 countries. The net profit of Aeroflot for 2005 amounted to 6.032 billion RUR.
