Aeroflot: business results for december and 12 months of 2010

January 26, 2011, Moscow. JSC ‘Aeroflot - Russian Airlines’ published business results for December and twelve months of 2010.

In December 2010, Aeroflot’s passenger traffic increased by 20.7% in comparison with the similar period of 2009 to reach 2,684.5 mln passenger-kilometers. The number of uplifted passengers increased by 16.7% to reach 864.1 thousand. The number of passengers of international flights increased by 19.0% (+86,800 passengers) to attain 544,400. On domestic flights, 319,700 passengers were uplifted. This indicator is 12.9% (+36,600 passengers) higher than that for the similar period of 2009. In December, the occupancy of passenger seats was 72.0%, a 3.1 percentage growth as compared with the previous year. The commercial load was 59.8%, a 2.7 percentage growt as compared with the previous year.

The results of 2010 show that Aeroflot’s passenger turnover was 34,777.1 mln passenger-kilometers, a 33.8% growth compared with the results of 2009. The number of uplifted passengers increased by 28.9% to become 11,285,800. The occupancy of passenger seats also increased to 77.2%, a 7.7 percentage growth as compared to the previous year. The commercial load was 63.2%, a 7.3 percentage point growth as compared to the previous year.

Aeroflot, a leader of Russia’s air fleet, is a member of SkyTeam, the global airline alliance. Aeroflot’s overall flight network comprises 898 locations in 169 countries. In 2009, 8.755 mln passengers used Aeroflot’s services and 11.1 mln used the services offered by the Aeroflot group.

Aeroflot was the winner in the contest between European members of SkyTeam in serving economy-class passengers in short- and medium-range flights and business-class passengers in long-range flights. “Onboard Survey,” the marketing survey conducted by SkyTeam from April to September 2009, confirmed Aeroflot’s leading positions.

Aeroflot belongs to 25 leading airlines of the world according to Air Transport World journal, based on the results of its financial and economic activities in 2009 (“operating profit” and “profit margin” categories).

Aeroflot was the first Russian carrier to be included in the IOSA operator registry and it continues to confirm the certificate in a regular way. The airline has successfully passed the Safety audit for ground operations (ISAGO). Aeroflot is a holder of the unified certificate of compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
