The general director of Aeroflot Company Valery Okulof is rewarded with “The best manager of the year” prize

December 6, 2007, Moscow. – The General Director of OAO “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” Valery Okulov was rewarded with the journalist prize “Manager of the year” in “Best Manager in Transport Sector” nomination presented by a weekly Company magazine (Rodionov Publishing House).

“Manager of the Year” prize was established by Company Magazine in 1999 and it is presented to the outstanding managers in different business sectors, like industry, transport, trade, trade-economic complex, finances, IT. Nominated people are chosen by the editors out of the companies which have been the most successful in the year and played an important role in the national economy development. Valery Okulof not for the first time became the laureate for this authoritarian prize.

The competition organizers highly appreciated the achievements of Aeroflot Company in 2007.Throughout the history of Russian air flights Aeroflot became the first Russian air company entering the global air union SkyTeam, providing the flights geography expansion for Russian passengers to 841 places in 162 countries with the most convenient joints and a single service zone. Aeroflot was the first Russian company receiving and confirming IOSA operator status (IATA, Operational Safety Audit – international safety standard of air line companies taken by IATA International Air Transport Association). Aeroflot develops gradually in realization of restructuralization and renewal airplanes policy. Last year an Agreement for 89 new Russian and foreign airplanes supply was signed. Aeroflot is the only Russian company meeting all the international standards.

Although the foreign air lines expansion goes into Russian market, Aeroflot keeps increasing the flights frequency, opens new routes, subsidiaries, gradually it realizes the policy of air transport consolidation. Aeroflot has a plan by 2010 to enter five best European air companies in terms of passengers service quality.

OAO Aeroflot Russian Airlines (AFLT) is the absolute leader in Russian commercial aviation, in fact it is a national air company. Being the largest air company in the country Aeroflot transports more that 7 mln people per year, together with subsidiaries about 9 mln people, it takes 23% of total number of passengers in Russian air transport. The company has 81 airplanes with its own flights to 93 places in 47 countries (302 flights per day). It controls 51% of Russian market of regular international transporting and approximately 12% of inner transport. The profit in 2006 was 7.9 billion rubles (consolidated profit in Aeroflot group 258.1 mlnf USD in MSFO).

Aeroflot is one of the oldest air companies and one of the most famous commercial brands in the world. The company was established in 1923, it is based in Moscow in international Sheremetyevo Airport. In 2006 Aeroflot became the first Russian air company entering the global union SkyTeam.
