Aeroflot Adds More St. Petersburg Flights

AEROFLOT ADDS MORE ST. PETERSBURG FLIGHTS

June 18 2009, Moscow. – From June 22 2009, JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines will increase the flight frequency on the Moscow – St. Petersburg – Moscow line from seven to nine flights a day, thus creating more opportunities for its passengers to plan their journey.

The new flights will be performed on А320 and Tu-154 airplanes on weekdays: from Moscow (Sheremetyevo) – at 10:30 (SU841) and 16:35 (SU845), from St. Petersburg - at 13:00 (SU 842) and 19:10 (SU 846) (find more at www.aeroflotbonus.ru).

In June 2006, JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines opened a branch in St. Petersburg based on its former St. Petersburg office. Aeroflot considers the expansion of its activity in St. Petersburg to be among the highest priorities of its development.

The Moscow – St. Petersburg – Moscow line remains the most intensive in terms of passenger traffic. In 2008, the company carried about half a million passengers along this route, which was 21% more than the previous year’s figures. On this line, Aeroflot operates under a code-sharing agreement with STC Rossiya. In 2008, the line implemented the Aeroflot Shuttle program, enabling check-in closing at 20 min before departure, as well as a faster baggage handling and passenger boarding/ unboarding.

The decision to add more flights to the line results from the growing influence of the Northern Capital as a cultural and political center of the Russian Federation, the citizens’ need in high-quality international and domestic air transport, and the necessity to gain a competitive edge of the Russian carriers in the St. Petersburg hub.

AEROFLOT is headquartered in Moscow, in the Sheremetyevo International Airport. As Russia’s largest carrier, the company flies around 10 million passengers annually, together with its subsidiaries, around 12 million passengers.
Aeroflot operates its own flights to 95 destinations in 48 countries. It accounts for over 45% of Russia’s scheduled international traffic. The company strives to enhance its share of domestic traffic, which now is 12.5% (with its subsidiaries, 17%).
Aeroflot is a member of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance. Aeroflot has given its customers an access to a route network covering 905 in 169 countries (more info is available on our website www.skyteam.com). Aeroflot operates code-sharing agreements with 28 foreign and Russian airline companies.
Aeroflot has one of Europe’s youngest air fleets that consists of 97 aircrafts, more than half are state-of-the-art airliners. The air fleet is regularly replenished. The company plans to receive the new generation Russian airplanes Sukhoi SuperJet-100.
Aeroflot complies with the highest international safety standards. Following the results of the International Air Transport Association’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), the company has become the first Russian carrier to be included in the IOSA Registry. In 2007, Aeroflot confirmed the certificate in compliance with the new, a more strict regulation version. Since March 2008, the company’s Quality Management System has been certified as complying with ISO 9001:2000.
