Additional capacity is launched and new flights are added to the Rome airport still open to take passengers from Europe and to bring to Europe transit passengers from South-East Asia. Since Airports in Milan and Venice are closed the Aeroflot flights are redirected for Rome.
SU 572 Beijing – Moscow took Russian citizens – passengers of Chinese airlines which had cancelled their flights to Moscow. Aeroflot still accepts passengers from other airlines which cancelled flights to Moscow because of closed airspace in Europe.
Aeroflot keeps monitoring the situation in immediate contact with the meteorology service and with representative offices of the company in European countries, Saint-Petersburg, Kaliningrad and Murmansk.

Aeroflot transports passengers suffering from airlines cancelling flights to Moscow
April 17, 2010, Moscow. – OJSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines” helps to transport passengers from other airlines to have cancelled flights to Moscow amid closed airspace with European countries.
On April 16, SU 551 Moscow – Bangkok transported 64 passengers of Korean Air and 36 passengers from Singapore Airlines.
On April 17, SU 273 Moscow – Nice took onboard 44 Air France passengers. Today AeroFlot plans to carry passengers of Alitalia by SU 277 Moscow - Rome. To transport passengers from Europe AeroFlot expands its capacity at this destination starting from today.
Starting from April 17, Aeroflot’s flights to active European airports are services with top capacity aircraft, and in case of necessity supplementary flights will be arranged.

Aeroflot introduces additional flights to open European airports
April 17, 2010, Moscow. – To ensure passengers transportation Aeroflot Team and the Emergency operations centre established in view of the European airspace closure decide to increase the number of flights to destinations with the airspace open.
24 hours a day active Emergency operations centre involves extra staff of the company and stays in constant contact with The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Federal Boundary Service to arrange issues on passengers with expired visas or with no visas at all. Hotel accommodation and catering make up another centre of constant focus.
As of midday April 17 the list of open airports includes Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Sofia. These destinations will be serviced by top capacity aircraft. To transport passengers from Europe starting from April 17 AeroFlot raises the throughput capacity on flights to Italy (Rome). AeroFlot passengers with tickets to/from other places in Europe will be allowed for transportation with no tickets conversion. With this AeroFlot is not responsible for passengers transportation from/to the final point in Europe.
Currently Moscow hotels accommodate 1019 passengers with 746 passengers staying in hotels abroad.
April 16-17 witnessed 66 flights cancelled with the overall backlog of 16,629 passengers.
All passengers can exchange their tickets with no additional payment for any AeroFlot flight starting from Europe within their class of service provided vacant seats are available. Passengers can also return their tickets with no penalties irrespective of the date of ticket return. The transportation cost is only compensated at the point sale the ticket was bought from.

Aeroflot offers passengers a possibility
April 16 2010, Moscow. – Aeroflot’s management and its contingency center created due to the closure of airspace in a number of European countries have taken a decision to accept and carry all passengers who are currently unable to leave the closed airports but have a possibility to get to those ones that continue to operate.
As of the evening of April 16, the airports of Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Milan, Venice, Nice, Sofia remained open.
In the current situation, all passengers can exchange their air tickets at no additional cost for any Aeroflot’s flight originating from Europe retain the class of service contingent on availability of seats.
In order to ensure proper delivery of passengers from European destinations, Aeroflot, starting April 17, is increasing the capacity of its flights to Italy (Rome, Milan). Aeroflot’s passengers with tickets to/from other European destinations will be accepted for travel without any ticket reprocessing. At the same time, Aeroflot does not assume an obligation to deliver a passenger to/from a final destination.
Aeroflot continues to monitor the situation and cooperate with the weather services and the company’s representatives in European countries, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad and Murmansk.
