Greetings from Vitaly Saveliev, General Director of JSC "Aeroflot – Russian Airlines"

Dear Passenger,

Welcome aboard Aeroflot. Last month was marked by a notable event for our company and for the whole country. Let us congratulate each other on the maiden flight of the new Russian Dobrolet low-cost carrier.

A major element of Aeroflot Group, Dobrolet airline features a special social focus. For a long time we’ve been dreaming of increasing the number of passengers through more accessible flights for the youth, students, elder people and people looking for more affordable flights. Today, the road is wide open for the development of productive and efficient low-cost airliners in Russia. This is due to changes in Russian aviation legislation that we have been actively promoting for a long time. Low-cost transportation is highly popular in Europe. Russian citizens are still accustomed to different standards: inflight catering, refundable tickets, free luggage allowance, etc. are expected. However, these and other options add to the cost of the transportation and ultimately raise the ticket price.

The low-cost business model is based on expense minimization, which includes removing some service elements. Today, Dobrolet offers tariffs 20–50% below the regular economy class, and there is the possibility of even lower prices. This year, we witnessed a very important event: Crimea rejoined Russia. Ensuring reliable, convenient, and accessible air transportation to the Peninsula has become a pressing issue. The launching of Dobrolet has turned out to be great help. During the first day alone, nearly ten thousand tickets to Simferopol were booked. Crimea is sure to become the pearl of this summer, not least because of Dobrolet. Crimea won’t be the only priority of Dobrolet. In its first year, the airline will fly from Moscow to Saint Petersburg, Samara, Kazan, Volgograd, Perm, Arkhangelsk, and Tyumen.
