On December 1 Aeroflot and FGUP “GTK Rossiya”signed a basic code-sharing agreement, allowing both airline companies to expand their carriage of passengers both on domestic and international routes.
On December 14 Aeroflot introduced a new form of special clothing for on-ground service staff and a new standard uniform for flight and cabin crews.
On December 15 Aeroflot acquired a A320 liner as part of a financial leasing deal. The aircraft is named after the great Russian painter, Shishkin.
On December 19 Aeroflot introduced a self service check-in desk at Sheremetyevo Airport.
On December 19 the Aeroflot-Cargo corporate aircraft successfully made its first flight under the company flag.
On December 28 Aeroflot launched the new Flight Staff Training Centre for emergency drills on land and at sea.
On November 3 it was 40 years since the signing of an agreement on air communication between the USSR and the USA.
On November 8 Aeroflot acquired a A320 liner as part of a new lot of aircraft from the A320 family from Airbus under a set of signed contracts. The aircraft is named after the great Russian painter, Kramskoy.
On November 21 it was 50 years since the signing of an agreement on air communication between the USSR and Austria.
On November 21 the rating agency АК&М confirmed the credit rating of JSC Aeroflot as “A+” with stable prospects. This means the airline company is classed as a highly reliable borrower.
On November 23 Aeroflot was awarded with the ”Company of the Year” prize in the “Transport” category.
On November 30 Aeroflot started regular flights along the Moscow-Mineralniye Vody-Jiddah route.
On October 25 Aeroflot acquired an А321 liner from a new lot of aircraft from the А320 family from Airbus under a set of signed contracts. The aircraft is named after the great Russian painter, Repin.
On October 25 Aeroflot and leading French banks financing the acquisition of aircraft (AC)— Natexis Transport Finance, Calyon and ABN Amro Bank (London Branch)—signed a credit agreement for the financial lease of seven AC Airbus A321 to be supplied in 2006-2007.
On October 31 Aeroflot acquired an А321 liner from a new lot of aircraft from the А320 family from Airbus under a set of signed contracts. The aircraft is named after the great Russian painter, Vasnetsov.
On September 5 Aeroflot started regular flights on the Moscow-Ha route
On September 15 the joint project between Aeroflot and Alfa Bank was named as one of the winners among European partners of MasterCard for co-branding in 2006.
On August 2 the Transport Ministry of the Russian Federation awarded the Aeroflot team an honorary diploma entitled “For high professionalism during the evacuation of Russian citizens from the zone of armed conflict in the Middle East”.
On September 5 Aeroflot started regular flights on the Moscow - Hannover - Moscow route. Hannover became the seventh German destination of Aeroflot.
On August 29 JSC Aeroflot was named the winner of the second All-Russian “Best HR Service - 2006” competition. It was the second such award for Aeroflot’s HR Department.
On July 1 Aeroflot and CSA Czech Airlines began the joint operation of routes between destinations in Ireland, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Russia. According to the agreement, Aeroflot, which previously did not serve flights to Dublin, Cork (Ireland) and Manchester and Edinburg (Great Britain), will be able to sell tickets under its code for CSA flights to these destinations via Prague. At the same time, CSA will expand its network in Russia (Irkutsk, Barnaul Kemerovo, Omsk) through sales on Aeroflot flights via Moscow.
On July 3 Aeroflot began regular passenger flights on the Moscow-Yuzhno Sakhalinsk-Moscow route.
On July 25 Aeroflot started regular flights on the Moscow - Magadan - Moscow route.
Aeroflot became the official carrier of 2000 participants in the 59th World Newspaper Congress and the 13th International Editors’ Forum held in Moscow on June 4-7, 2006, under the auspices of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN).
On June 5 Aeroflot launched an on-line payment system at www.aeroflot.aero. Passengers were given the opportunity not only to reserve but also pay for air tickets by credit card via the Internet.
On June 7 Valeriy Okulov, General Director of JSC Aeroflot, was for the fourth time elected a member of the Management Council of IATA for 2006-2007.
On June 17 the regular annual general meeting of shareholders of JSC Aeroflot - Russian Airlines took place.
On June 17 JSC Aeroflot, JSC Vneshtorgbank and Vneshekonombank signed a set of contracts for the sale of shares in JSC Terminal, according to which Vneshtorgbank acquired 25% plus one share and Vneshekonombank 20% minus two shares.
On June 22 Aeroflot opened a subsidiary in St. Petersburg.
On June 27-August 1 Aeroflot again offered discounts for school-leavers with gold and silver medals from Siberia and the Far East of Russia planning to enter university in Moscow.
On June 28 Aeroflot was awarded ”Taxpayer of the Year” prize, founded by the Interregional Organization of Entrepreneurs with the support of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation and Budget and Taxes Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
On May 4 Valeriy Okulov, General Director of JSC Aeroflot, and Gennadiy Boldyrev, interim General Director of FGUAP “Pulkovo”, signed a code-sharing agreement. Aeroflot acquired the right to use its code on Pulkovo flights between St. Petersburg and destinations in Germany.
On May 4-20 Aerflot ran its traditional “To the Places of Battle” offer. For the sixth year running, Aeroflot granted veterans and invalids of the Great Patriotic War, former prisoners of fascism, and Leningrad blockade survivors free flights on regular Aeroflot routes to any destination in Russia and Eastern Europe. Over 23,000 people took advantage of the free Aeroflot tickets during the May offer devoted to Victory Day.
On May 6 Gunter Matchnigg, Vice-President of the IATA, presented to Valeriy Okulov, General Director of JSC «Aeroflot», an IOSA operator certificate. Aeroflot was the first Russian airline company to pass the operational safety audit of the IATA, becoming a leader in this field.
On 18 May it was five years since the special canine service of Aeroflot’s flight safety department was established to enhance the safety of passengers in view of the growing threat of terrorist attacks.
On May 23 a special meeting of Aeroflot shareholders decided, by absentee voting, to approve a deal to acquire 30 new regional-class aircraft from CJSC “Grazhdanskiye samolety Sukhogo”.
On May 25 Aeroflot and leading French banks financing the acquisition of aircraft (AC)—Natexis Transport Finance and Calyon—signed a credit agreement to finance advance payments for seven AC Airbus A321. The credit value was $50m.
On May 29 Aeroflot resumed regular flights on the Moscow-Karlovy Vary-Moscow route, the only carrier on this line.
On April 10 Aeroflot was awarded the “National Brand -2005” prize.
On April 14 Aeroflot officially became the tenth member of the alliance SkyTeam, named ” Best Air Alliance” in 2005 and 2006 by readers of Global Traveler magazine.
On April 14 a special meeting of Aeroflot shareholders decided, by absentee voting, to approve the general conditions and price of the three deals to sell stocks in JSC Terminal owned by JSC Aeroflot 25% plus one share to JSC “ Sheremetyevo International Airport”; 25% plus one share to Vneshtorgbank, and20% minus two share to Vneshekonombank.
On April 20 Valeriy Okulov, General Director of JSC «Aeroflot», was elected chairman of the Russian section of the Russian-Emirates Business Council (REBC).
On April 27 Aeroflot announced the start of regular flights on the Moscow - Krasnoyarsk - Moscow route. Krasnoyarsk became Aeroflot’s 28th regular destination in Russia.
On March 6 Aeroflot introduced a check-in service for passengers departing on domestic flights from Sheremetyevo-1 at Savelovskiy Railway Station. Passengers could also register their luggage.
On March 20 Valeriy Okulov, General Director of JSC Aeroflot, and Bertolt Flick, President of Air Baltic, signed a code-sharing agreement on the joint operation of the Moscow-Riga-Moscow route.
On March 23 Aeroflot was named the best Russian airline company in the field of cargo and international passenger carriage as part of the”Wings of Russia - 2005” national awards.
On February 3 the “Aeroflot Open 2006” chess championship with a prize fund of $175,000 got under way. It was the fifth time that Aeroflot had acted as the organizer and financial sponsor of the event, in conjunction with the Association of Chess Federations and the Tourism Committee of the Moscow government.
On February 14 Aeroflot was named the winner of the 5th All-Russian ” National Social Performance” competition in the category “Realization of Social Programmes”.
On February 16 Aeroflot was announced the winner of the “Improved onboard services” award in 2005 out of 95 international airline companies, according to the results of a SkyTrax survey of 3500 corporate travellers.
Over the period January 24-February 27, 2006, Aeroflot flew the Russian Olympic team, members of the official Russian delegation, guests and tourists to the Winter Olympic Games in Turin 2006. At the same time, large cargoes with sport inventory, equipment and other complex baggage were delivered to Italy by the company’s aircraft.
The “Aeroflot Bonus” frequent-flyer programme and Klub Mnogo.ru, which operates loyalty programmes, entered a new stage of cooperation: all holders of Mnogo.ru club cards can receive additional bonuses on buying tickets from Aeroflot’s sales offices in Moscow.
Aeroflot introduced new onboard catering for economy-class passengers, including a wider range of alcoholic drinks: wine, beer, cognac, champagne for an extra charge.
Aeroflot introduced a new service for passengers travelling from Moscow to Austrian and German ski resorts via Munich; transfer from the airport to the hotel and back is provided on comfortable Mercedes buses.
On January 18-28, 2006 Aeroflot carried Russian citizens to the Hadj pilgrimage in Jordan (about 3000 people).
On January 26 Aeroflot, Alfa Bank and MasterCard launched a new service for travellers: a joint Aeroflot - MasterCard - Alfa Bank card. The new product is for users, especially of Gold and Platinum cards, to purchase tickets and earn air miles.
